The Independence Day of Bangladesh (স্বাধীনতা দিবস Shadhinôta Dibôs) or the People’s Republic Of Bangladesh, taking place on 26 March, is a national holiday. It commemorates the country’s declaration of independence from Pakistan in the early hours of 26 March 1971 by the leader of the Nation Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. The day is a memorial to the deaths of thousands of innocent civilians who died in the subsequent Bangladesh Liberation War. 26th of March, Bangladesh’s independence from Pakistan was declared by Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and the nine-month-long bloody liberation war was commenced. the day’s program begins with the dawn of the day. The national flag is hoisted on all government and private buildings in towns. Dhaka, our capital city, takes a festive look on this occasion. Various units of our armed forces exhibit parades before the spectators. Sweets are distributed among the children. Special prayers are offered for the martyrs in all mosques, temples, and churches of the country. Shaheed families are paid honor and respect. Special foods are supplied in hospitals and prisons. Essay writing competitions stressing the significance of the day are held.

Independence Day is commonly associated with parades, political speeches, fairs, concerts, ceremonies, and various other public and private events celebrating the history and traditions of Bangladesh. TV and radio stations broadcast special programs and patriotic songs in honor of Independence Day.

Generally, a thirty-one gun salute is conducted in the morning. The main streets are decorated with national flags. Different political parties and socioeconomic organizations undertake programs to mark the day in a befitting manner, including paying respects at National Martyrs’ Memorial at Savar near Dhaka.

Cultural Events 26th March Holyday

Holy Quran Recitation: At first we will start our program with the recitation of the Holy Quran. One of our students will recite the Holy Quran and another student will translate the holy Quran.

Bangladesh National Anthem Independence

After the Holy Quran recitation, all the members will sing the national anthem. Everyone will sing the national anthem simultaneously.

The Independence day Welcome Speech

Then the headteacher of our school will deliver a welcome speech for everyone. He will honor the chief guest with flower wraths. Then he will tell everyone to pay attention till last.

26 March Swadhinata Dibos Songs

The students will sing some songs Bangladesh, Independence day, Golden jubilee, etc. These will enchant everyone. These songs will commemorate the historical sacrifice of the freedom fighters in 1971.

The Independence day Poem Recitation 26 March

Then the students will recite some poems on the golden jubilee of Bangladesh, Bangabandhu, Bangladesh. These poems will remind us of the heroic struggle and sacrifice in 1971.

Bijoy Dibos 26 March Drama

The students will present a play to everyone on the specific event of 1971. Such as they will present a drama on the story of 1971. This drama will play an important role in remembering the independence war in 1971.

Swadhinata Dibos Upolokkhe Dance

Dance is another part of our program. Some students will dance with a song to enrich the beautification of the program.

Bangladesh Independence Day History

One of the students will tell us the whole events of the independence war in 1971 at a glance. It will remind us of the whole war.

President’s Speech 26 March Bijoy Dibos

In the eleventh hour, the president will deliver a speech on the whole program. He will deliver a speech about the performance, thanking everyone, etc. Finally, he will conclude the program.

The day begins with a 31 gun salute. Early in the morning the President and Prime Minister on behalf of the nation place floral wreaths at the National Mausoleum at Savar. Then other leaders, political parties, diplomats, social and cultural organizations, educational institutions, and freedom fighters pay homage to the martyrs. People from all walks of life also go there in rallies and processions. There are many cultural programmers throughout the day, highlighting the heroic struggle and sacrifice in 1971. The country also witnesses a spectacular parade of defense forces, border guards, police, ansars, and the VDP (Village Defense Party) at the National Parade Ground near the National Parliament. On the occasion of Independence Day, the whole country wears festive colors. The national flag is hoisted. Seminars, symposiums, debates, Milad mahfil, and many other cultural functions are also held. Today we are proud as an independent and sovereign nation. We celebrate this day every year with great honor and solemnity.
